Advanced backpacking in the Smokies.

WHO: Scouts who have been on at least 2 backpacking trips with Troop 13 and are prepared for the physical challenge of backpacking in the Smokies.

ELECTRONICS REMINDER 📱🕹️

One of the great benefits of heading out on any of our trips is that we’re able to unplug from our digital world for a few days. Electronics are allowed while traveling to our destinations, but we have a longstanding rule that Scouts are not allowed to use electronics while on our trips (i.e. if brought they’ll be left in vehicles and not used during the trip).

ITINERARY

DETAILS STILL BEING FINALIZED - we are rerouting this trip to be an advanced trip in Big South Fork due to damage from Hurricane Helene in eastern TN.

This is an Advanced trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. We’ll start in Elkmont, hike to site 19 on Friday, then on Saturday hike to site 27, and hike back out to Elkmont on Sunday.

There is a max of 8 people on this trip - registration will initially open for 5 Scouts and 2 adults, with the last slot being allocated as needed.

Due to the popularity of the Smoky’s in the fall it’s hard to find a route with site availability. We’re not able to “loop” as much as we’d like to, but it’s not a total “out-and-back” trip (see the map for details).
